From September 2018 to September 2019, employment increased in 283 of the 355 largest U.S. counties. New Hanover County, North Carolina (part of the Wilmington metropolitan area), had the largest over-the-year increase in employment with a gain of 5.8 percent. In Adams County, Colorado (part of the Denver area), employment increased 5.3 percent over the year ended in September 2019.

From January 2019 to January 2020, producer prices for final demand increased 2.1 percent, the largest advance since moving up 2.1 percent for the 12 months ended May 2019. For the year ended January 2020, prices for final demand goods increased 1.8 percent, while prices for final demand services increased 2.0 percent.

Workplace fatalities are trending upward among workers age 55 and older. In 2018, there were 1,863 fatal work injuries among workers age 55 and older. That was 35 percent of all workplace deaths, up from 20 percent in 1992. The historic high was 37 percent in 2017.
